Emma grew up obsessed with fantasy stories and fairytales - Narnia, His Dark Materials, Lord of the Rings - and with drawing animals. At the Royal College of Art, those two passions collided into a signature style: intricate, hand-drawn designs that take the natural world somewhere altogether more fantastical. She launched Emma J Shipley in 2013 - creating scarves, and later homeware and accessories - and has been building her own mythical world of wildlife ever since.
