Growing up in Mumbai, Shakera was surrounded by skilled tailors and needlewomen, which sparked her appreciation for intricate embroidery, fabrics, and vibrant colours. After moving to England at 19, she was inspired by the beauty of nature (wildflowers, gardens, and landscapes) which she incorporated into her designs. She decided to blend craftsmanship, creativity, and sustainability and launched Shaku; a luxurious collection of hand-painted silk and winter scarves, each a unique piece of wearable art inspired by the natural world. In addition to scarves, the brand also features high-end homeware, including Italian merino wool blankets and luxury candles.
