Rosie moved to the Uk from Tanzania in 1987. Coming from the tropics she couldn't find hair removal products in the UK made traditionally from sugar and lemon juice like they had back home. She realised there was a gap in the market for a natural alternative to chemically formulated wax. This led her to create Sugar Coated with her husband. To this day, the company is still family run with her younger son recently joining the business.
