In 2009, Sharon developed a dangerous allergy to salicylates, a preservative commonly used in cosmetics and cleaning products. She suffered from breathing problems, nasal polyps, eczema, incredibly sensitive skin and had to have major surgery. Sharon was warned to limit her salicylate intake or risk the condition returning within 6 months. As a result of this lifestyle change, she realised there we're no beauty products branding themselves as salicylate free, she had discovered a gap in the market!
