Leigh was inspired to create something better when she saw her cricket-loving daughter handed kit that was neither designed for nor suited to the female figure. Despite the rising popularity of women's cricket, kit has long been designed solely for the male body, with professional players adapting men's styles and young girls enduring see-through tops and trousers. Leigh set up Lacuna in 2019 and spent three years testing and refining before launching the first collection. Now players from grassroots clubs to international tournaments wear kit that fits, feels comfortable and lets them focus on the game.
