When in Sri Lanka, Thana witnessed farmers destroying their excess crops as they had no means to fetch a reasonable price for them, and destroying them was the most economically viable solution. She decided to do something to stop this from happening again so started to research. Thana soon realised that the best way to help was by creating a steady demand for the farmer's produce. Using the farmers crops (sourced directly from them at a fair price), she started making and selling food products based on traditional Sri Lankan recipes and soon RUCI - Authentic Sri Lankan was born.
