When Lyndsay moved from Canada to the UK in 2019, it didn’t take long for her to realise something was seriously off with the gherkins, or as she would call them ‘Dill Pickles’. They were soft, overly sweet, and nothing like the crunchy, tangy dills she grew up eating back home. After scouring every supermarket and deli she could find with no luck, she turned to the one person she trusted most with a jar of pickles: her grandma Nora, known as the Original Pickle Queen. Nora sent her the family recipe, but recreating that perfect gherkin wasn’t as easy as she thought. It took years of testing and travelling across the UK to find the right cucumber variety, one that actually holds a crunch. It wasn’t until 2023 that she finally found a British farmer growing exactly what she needed. Thus, Sexy Pickles was born—not just to bring crunchy dills to the UK, but to reimagine what pickling could look like. Today, she’s making bold, unexpected flavours, all still made by hand, and all rooted in that original craving for something real.
